The Hôtel des Invalides was founded by Louis XIV to house veterans and wounded soldiers. It now serves as the prestigious setting for the Army Museum, with its famous 110 meters high golden dome.
The museum's collection holds more than 500,000 pieces covering the french military history from the Middle Ages up to the present day. In this newly designed educational route, you'll find armor, weapons like swords, cannons, and uniforms, that belonged to kings of France, as well as paintings, photographs and personal effects of important figures such as Francis I, Louis XIV and Charles de Gaulle .
Your visit also takes you to the Dome Church, which since 1861 has been home to the monumental tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Schedule
The museum is open every day of the year, except January 1st, May 1st and December 25.
All year long: from 10am to 6pm.
Late-night opening until 9 pm on Tuesdays, during temporary exhibition periods. The following are open late: the temporary exhibition, the Historial Charles de Gaulle, the extraordinary cabinets, the Louis XIV-Napoleon trail and the Dôme des Invalides (tomb of Napoleon I).
The tills close 30 minutes before the Museum closes.
